Commercial and industrial waste landfilled

Key Finding

The 1.61 million tonnes of commercial and industrial waste landfilled in 2018–19 was 121,000 tonnes greater than the average amount landfilled during 2014–15 to 2017–18.

Commercial and industrial waste is produced by business and commerce and includes waste from schools, restaurants, offices, retail and wholesale businesses and manufacturing industries.

In 2018–19, 1.61 million tonnes of commercial and industrial waste were landfilled. Excluding green waste, the amount of commercial and industrial waste landfilled since 2014–15 has averaged about 1.52 million tonnes per year.
