Altered Fire Regimes at the Riversleigh section of Australian Fossil Mammal Sites

Key Finding

Fires are not considered a significant threat to the property’s Outstanding Universal Value.

Although wildfires occur at Boodjamulla (Lawn Hill) National Park, with consequences for animals and plant life, this is not a significant issue for the World Heritage values of the Riversleigh fossils.

The Department of Environment and Science, Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service Fire Strategy includes working with neighbours to develop a system of fire control on a broad scale to minimise risk of large-scale fires.
