Report Card Explainer

Report Card Explainer

A number of report cards have been produced in relation to the environmental condition of the Great Barrier Reef.  These include the Reef Water Quality Report Card, which evaluates and reports on progress towards the Reef 2050 Water Quality Improvement Plan targets, objectives and long term outcomes on a reef-wide basis, and regional report cards (Wet Tropics, Townsville Dry Tropics, Mackay–Whitsunday–Isaac, Fitzroy Basin and Gladstone Harbour) that outline the condition of a variety of indicators for diverse ecosystems within each region.

The Office of the Great Barrier Reef, with input from 5 Reef Regional Report Card Partnerships and the Paddock to Reef Integrated Monitoring, Modelling and Reporting Program team, developed a Report Card Explainer to help readers understand the difference in the types of indicators assessed for each of these report cards. A map is also provided, showing the geographical boundaries of the 5 Reef Regional Report Card Partnerships; this helps report card readers better understand the current spatial coverage of regional report card assessment and reporting within the Greater Barrier Reef catchment.

The Report Card Explainer can be found on each of the Report Card Partnership websites and on the Reef 2050 Water Quality Improvement Plan website.
