Key finding

The 1.443 million tonnes of commercial and industrial waste landfilled in 2016–2017 was similar to the amounts reported in previous years.

Waste regions (information applies statewide, map locations are for reference only)

Commercial and industrial waste is produced by business and commerce and includes waste from schools, restaurants, offices, retail and wholesale businesses and manufacturing industries.

The amount of commercial and industrial waste landfilled since 2011–2012 has averaged about 1.534 million tonnes per year.

Indicator: Tonnage of solid waste landfilled (solid received and disposal)

Commercial and industrial waste sent to disposal from 2007–2008 to 2016–2017. This includes commercial and industrial waste disposed of at local government landfills, private landfills, incinerators and industrial monofills. Regional groupings are combinations of local government areas.
