Key finding
The highest densities of terrestrial threatened fauna species habitat are found in the South East Queensland, Wet Tropics, Brigalow Belt and New England Tablelands bioregions.
Modelling identifies 96 million hectares of pre-clear habitat for 155 currently threatened terrestrial fauna species. High densities of pre-clearing threatened fauna habitat were found in the South East Queensland, Wet Tropics, Brigalow Belt and New England Tablelands bioregions.
High densities of threatened fauna habitat remained in the South East Queensland, Wet Tropics, Brigalow Belt and New England Tablelands bioregions in 2015. However, across Queensland, 26% of pre-clearing threatened fauna habitat had been cleared by 2015. Of the habitat that was remnant vegetation in 2015, only 9.4% was protected within a National Park.

Density of terrestrial threatened fauna habitat across Queensland pre-clearing and remaining as remnant vegetation in 2015, determined by the number of co-occurring fauna habitat models. Data is based on Regional Ecosystems (version 10, 2016), species sightings and relevant habitat factors.
