No new places have been recorded on the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural heritage register since 2009.

There are three places recorded on the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural heritage register.
No new places have been recorded since 2009.
The register is established and maintained under Part 5 of the Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Act 2003 and the Torres Strait Islander Cultural Heritage Act 2003. The register includes information contained in cultural heritage studies carried out under Part 6 of the legislation, which provides formal processes for undertaking a comprehensive study to assess the significance of an area.
The fact that no new places have been recorded on the register may reflect a perception among stakeholders that there are no incremental benefits of recording a place on the register as opposed to merely recording site locations on the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural heritage database.
North
The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural heritage register records two places for the North Cultural Heritage Region.
No new places have been recorded since 2009.
